Goodnestone Park Gardens

This attraction was nominated by @lovebrownsigns

Fourteen acres of gardens set around an 18th Century country house with varied and distinct sections, including an arboretum, grasses, wildflowers, woodland, vegetable garden and walled garden. The latter being my favourite as every walled garden holds of a sense of adventure and seclusion for me, shooting one straight into a scene from everyone’s childhood bedtime favourite The Secret Garden (although Colin didn’t come clattering by, laughing playfully in his wheelchair when I went through this old doorway, more to the pity I’d say). The garden was thick with buzzing bees and other insects indicative of a healthy thriving garden (making me run around flapping wildly quite frequently) and the sense of quiet and peace is disturbed only by the water feature in the centre of the garden, absolute bliss. The cake selection in the tea room was also pretty spectacular, as were the freshly cut wildflowers in the vases on every table. I could go on…
