Follow the brown signs

Established in 2001 and housed in a former rural garage on the A515 South of Buxton, the Bookstore at Brierlow Bar is one of the largest independent bookshops in the country.  As well as newly published titles and a full range of regional maps, the main stock is discounted books covering the local area, and some further 50 categories from children’s, fiction, through to history, philosophy and transport – specialising in railway books.   A fine range of greeting cards, discounted cd’s., and wild animal food are also stocked.

The large free car park has some picnic tables, and light refreshments are available seven days a week. Opening hours are 9.30 – 5.30 Mon. to Sat., and 11.00 to 5.00 on Sundays.
