Sturry Road Community Park

Entrance is FREE!

This is one of the largest community-led greenspace regeneration projects in the UK. The creation of the park has transformed a sterile, forgotten wasteland into a new park for people and wildlife. Over 10,000 native trees and shrubs have been planted to effectively create a green edge to the City and strengthen the green gap between Canterbury and Sturry with enough space for a mix of sports facilities and for quieter nature areas. There’s a football pitch, basketball/football court with astroturf surface, a skate park and a mini-BMX course. The many paths are good for dog walking, cycling, or just having a wander. Wildlife features include wildflower meadows, ponds and woods. Lots of butterflies can be seen in summer and nightingales can be heard singing in the spring. There are entrances to the park on Stour Crescent, Tennyson Avenue, Field Avenue and from National Cycle Route 1 (Canterbury to Fordwich). Parking is available on Tennyson Avenue and the closest toilets are at the Park and Ride next to the park.
