Follow the brown signs

It’s recorded as the oldest public house in Devon. Dating back to the end of the 12th century, this wonderful thatched pub is in the village of Rackenford, about a mile off the main A361 Tiverton to South Molton road. Under the management of Sophie, a local lady, and her mother Kate, the Stag is thriving with food and drink of excellent quality. The bar is open lunchtime and evening and all day in the summer for drinks – two brews from the Exmoor Brewery are the cask ales. Meals are served in either the oak-floored dining room or in the bar, along with a large decked area outside for patrons to enjoy.
