Old Operating Theatre and Herb Garert

The Oldest Operating Theatre in Britain in the unique setting of the timber framed Herb Garret. One of the most unusual museums in London and the oldest operating theatre in Europe, it found in a unique space in the Herb Garret of St Thomas Church and was part of old St Thomas' Hospital. This museum charts the often sick inducing history of medicine with all sorts of gory instruments used for all sorts of hideous operations over the centuries. The actual operating theatre itself has been well preserved and looks like it would when those sorry non-anethesised patients were wheeled in for their post traumatic stress inducing procedures back in the day. A proper well run and inspiring little museum.
